I’m planning to be a high school exchange student for a year in monterrey. What is it like over there? How’s the weather. Will it be ok to wear jeans everyday? Will I ever need a thick sweater or jacket? How are the people? Are they inviting and friendly? What do they look like, wear, do for fun? Is it really a lot like the USA? If so, will I still get a good Spanish language and Mexican cultural experience. How is UDEM? Anyone know anything about the high school at UDEM? Do I have to wear a uniform? Is English sponken as much as Spanish is there? How’s the shopping? Tell me anything you know about Monterrey, please. Thanks.
Spanish won’t be a problem for me. I speak it quite fluently. I hope to hear more Spanish than English when I arrive.
Any specific host family gift suggestions?

I will be studying abroad in a year, and I was just curious as to which university would be best for an American chemical engineering exchange student. Thanks!

I will be on exchange in Buenos Aires as of March of next year and I would like to meet people and have a great time. I would love to live in an apartment with other students but I don’t know how easy it is to do this. Living with a host family doesn’t particularly appeal to me and I’ve heard that residences are not nice to live in at all. I haven’t yet chosen the university that I am going to study at, but I am trying to look for one that offers a good exchange program so that I can actually meet other exchange students and hopefully many Argentines. If there are any people that have been on exchanges to Buenos Aires and had excellent experiences, I would love to hear any suggestions/advice that you may have.
