Open Question: How do you say… (in French)?

Dec 31, 2008 @ 08:53 am by

I’m translating a presentation from English to French about my home in Canada (I’m on student exchange in France), can’t find this in the Larouse I have and… please no online translator answers.

How would you say “takes place” or “is held” (like, “is held outside”, an event) in French?
Sorry! “are held”, not “is held”. The plural “is” (not for “tu” but for “ils/elles”…)

Open Question: Help with Chinese and Japanese?

Dec 31, 2008 @ 08:08 am by

I think chinese is hard- first of all, I cannot pronounce anything, or I am doing it so-so, but juct don’t know I am saying it right or not..Japanese-Im doing fine in. I can pronounce, and I was told by a native speaker that I had a good accent(foreign exchange student in my school luckily!). Which shall I try to learn first, and what should I do about my chinese problems? people say to learn chinese first because its harder. Also, what are some good ways to help me learn better. And before you say “everybodys brain is different….” thing, I learn best in a classroom. But I’m only 15(good age to start I hope), so my school doesn’t offer these classes. And don’t say “just move to China/Japan”. Obviously I would if I could.

part 2- Is getting into china harder then japan?(japan has a high immigration policy thing.) And what should I do in china to be sucsessful. I kinda want out of america for a little while.

Thanks people.

Open Question: What’s the name and author of the trance song the girls dance to at the Year 11 formal in Summer Heights High?

After Ja’mie wins the “Hottest Exchange Student Award” and gives her usual politically incorrect speech, the girls sprint out to the dance floor and start raging to some trance song. Anybody recognize it?

Open Question: What’s the deal with all of the pseudo-Christian cults in Korea?

Dec 30, 2008 @ 10:51 pm by

When i walked around korea as a foreign exchange student from the U.S., i was bombarded by Jehovah’s witnesses, mormons, and some other cult that i have never even heard of before about some dead leader who is supposed to be the second coming of jesus christ. What gives? Why are koreans departing traditional christianity for these cults?

Open Question: What Do You Think of the AP Computer Science Software That I’m Starting?

Dec 30, 2008 @ 09:44 pm by

I am developing a website that is a resource for AP Computer Science Students, Level A that will be taking the exam in 2009.

For this first year, I’m looking for students to use the course for free in exchange for their feedback.

AP Computer Science, A 2009
http://www.javau.us/computer_science/

Are you interested in trying out the website as a student?

Are you interested in trying out the website as a computer science teacher to collaborate?

My idea in developing this site is that when students take the AP Computer Science Exam, Level A, in May 2009 that they can pay the $100 fee and be money ahead by getting college credit which is worth a lot; rather than losing their exam fee.
