Jul 31, 2009 @ 11:42 pm by

I want to become an exchange student to Britain (I’m from the States) and I need to find a website to help me get there. Just put up a link to a website where this is possible, thank you!

Open Question: How do we make a foreign exchange student feel welcome/ happy?

Jul 31, 2009 @ 10:14 pm by

I’m 15 years old, with 3 older sisters (30, 25, 24) big age difference, i know. Anyways, we would either be getting a 15 year old girl from South Korea or a 16 year old girl from Germany.

I would just like to know what are some things my parents and I can do to make her feel welcome. She’ll have her own room, and we’ll share a bathroom.

Also, what are some good/bad experiences you’ve had (or heard about)?

Open Question: I’m going into high school, HELP!!!?

Jul 31, 2009 @ 12:42 pm by

I’m a year younger than everyone because I started Kindergarten early and I’m sorta shy. Freshman Orrientation is on the 7th and school starts on the 10th. I hear I should get a tote rather than a back pack cuz it’s cuter and better on the back. I am so scared of high school and I know I shouldn’t be but I can’t help it. I’ve tried to loose weight this summer with little sucess. A lot of changes have happened.

I’m short-sold my house and live in a nice apartment

I am gettinga foriegn exchange student

I decided I don’t want to be a cheerleader

Anyways, I am nervous. My sister-in-law explained womanly stuff and sex to me a bit more in depth this summer but i am still a bit nieve. I have some great style, like Amy from the Secret Life and I’m gonna be turning 14 on 9-11. So how do I get prepared? My mom met some new neighbors with a daughter in 12th grade and I’m her “freshman buddy” and i haven’t even met her cuz i’m across the country. I don’t want my mom setting me up on play dates and i told her that and she was like “well, you don’t make any friends on your own” and i was like “well, i will if you give me some space!” do you see my dilema? my mom is hovering and she would pull out the baby pictures in a heart beat. sorry if this is confusing but any words of advice? personal stories, tips on making friends, clothes and make up tips? i go to Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, Aerie, AE, etc. for clothes and Ulta for make up. Tips on classes?

I’m taking

Life F. A. C. S. (like Home Ec.)
Global Humanities-an advanced 4 credit class that deals with History, Liturature, and Geography
Algebra
Business Foundations
from August to December

Algebra
Global Humanities
PE
Science-biology
Jan-May

i’m glad i have Algebra first so it’ll wake me up a bit.

anyways. give me all your advice possible! thanx!

Open Question: What are the requirements for High-School Foreign Exchange to Japan?

Jul 31, 2009 @ 11:31 am by

During my Junior or Senior year, my parents (( who are divorced )) have decided to let me go to Japan as a foreign exchange student. But before I am assured that I will be qualified, I want to know what I need to have before I can qualify. What grades do I need? What do I take? Things like that.

I will do 2-3 years of Japanese tutoring before I go, so I can talk to the people around me.

+If I go during Junior year, I will stay un till Senior year, just visiting during summer break. I will come back when I am 18 and live in an apartment with my friend and attend College to become a doctor. (( Or just be lazy and do Japanese tutoring and classes. ))

Resolved Question: Can I keep from taking a language in High School?

Jul 31, 2009 @ 06:41 am by

I live in Flower Mound, TX and this year will be my first year in High School. I have decided to get a tutor in order to learn Japanese so in Junior or Senior year, I can go as a foreign exchange student.

At my High School, we have to take atleast 2 years of a language. If I show proof that I am already learning a language other than English, can I keep from learning any other language in school since I will be out of the country for the last year or two of school doing school in Japan.

It will be alot of work for me if I have to learn 2 languages and try to keep my grades up to standard to where I would qualify. I HAVE to learn the other language to pass school and I HAVE to learn basic Japanese (( personally )) to make my life easier when I get there.
Okay, what if I decide not to take language untill the last 2 years and during my Junoir year, I go to Japan, that would mean I don’t need it anymore. I would have to take Japanese class.

Right? (( Plleeeeeessseeee… ))

She told me to text her the next day so i did, and she said she was busy, and would get back to me when she was free. well she never texted back. so the next day i texted her again and once again she is busy, and again she never gets back to me. well a few days later a group of friends were gonna do something but she became busy again but didnt show, i told her she owed me and she said we’ll go out to lunch…..so is she avoiding me or is she really just busy all the time?

Open Question: Is there any way that i can help in a exchange program?

Jul 31, 2009 @ 01:39 am by

Not as in hosting a student, but as in doing volunteer work. I was an exchange student this previous year and i Absolutely loved it. And i just want to see if i can do anything back to help with the program. Im only 17 so I don’t know if they would even consider me but i would really like to keep on helping students that are going to be going through that experience. So does anyone know how i can help other than hosting a student at my house?
