I met a foreign exchange student from South Korea, and I want to help her to feel welcome.
Does anyone know any Korean mannerisms that I could direct towards her to make her feel more welcome?
Does holding eye contact for an extended period of time mean anything specific in Korean culture?

Through an exchange program with my school and a school in Germany i got paired with a student who had the same interests as i do, and i met him for the first time in late September, where he spent the next 4 weeks living with me. We become great friends instantly and really got to know each other and talk about girls and stuff. I showed him all the hot girls at our school, and he had me add all the hot girls on the exchange as well, and others that are in Germany, but who i will see when i go there in July. Long story short, we had trust and fun all the time, and then i started to kinda fall for him, and i didn’t realize it until like the weekend before they left. I also made out with this girl that came along with the program, and my partner and her are good friends and he thinks i love her and like girls in general, cuz i do, but also guys like him:). he is so nice, and now i won’t see him til July, and he is gonna spend all August here, on his own, not through school. I just cant get over the fact he is gone, he was like the brother i never had. His friends say he is kinda a pussy, like doesn’t drink in Germany, or date girls, but he is so hot that he should have someone, but he doesn’t. So i need help as to how to get over this empty feeling in my heart, Most people will never see their exchange partner for the rest of their life after July, but i don’t think i can let that happen. Love sucks, especially when you cant love. thanks in advance

I am going to NYU on student exchange for a semester from Sydney, leaving Dec.
I am researching Insurance that I need to take - any good ones in USA please let me know. The one available at my uni seems quite limited.
Also if anyone has been on exchange all your tips will be greatly appreciated.
- such as stay dorm or not?, getting around etc

I’m applying for an exchange program. SMG (http://www.student-management.com/flash/high-school.htm)
My dad heard from some where that most hosts don’t allow students to use laptops or cell phones unless they prove that they get good grades. Cell phone is fine. I don’t need it. But laptops? Isn’t that supposed to be for writing essays and projects at school?
So can you bring your own laptops to a homestay?

I’m a sophomore and was planning on being a foreign exchange student either next year of my senior year. I’m a french 2 and was going to go to a month long french camp next summer and get a french tudor so i could learn as much french as possible.
do you think i’d know enough to be able to function as a foreign exchange student?
