I’m pretty sure he hasn’t asked a girl B4 and he has never had a girlfriend. *he’s an exchange student BTW* But….i can’t till I’m 16 and that’s in a few months & I want to respect my parent’s desicions! BTW[again] he does know i like him cuz my friend told him.

Open Question: Read this and respond. Why don’t people see this is happening America?

Mar 31, 2010 @ 10:38 pm by

This is truly thought provoking. Take the time to read it and send it on to those who you think are worth sending it to.

There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in his class. One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who …kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his countries government and install a new communist regime…. See More

In the midst of his story, he looked at his professor and asked a strange question. He asked:

“Do you know how to catch wild pigs?”

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said it was no joke.

You catch pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and start putting corn down on the ground. The pigs find it and come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming everyday, you put down a fence one side of the place where they are used to coming.

When they get used to the fence they come back and eat the corn again, at this point you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.

The pigs, which are used to eating the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat the free corn again.

You slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost all their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they’re caught.

Soon they go back to eating their free corn.they are so used to it, they have forgotten how to forage for themselves so they accept their captivity!

The young man then tells the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America. The government keeps pushing us towards Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax cuts, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP),welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch.

If you see that all this wonderful government “help” is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends.

If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life, then you will probably delete this.

But GOD help you when the gate slams shut.

Open Question: Can Someone Explain A Few of the Chemistry Standards to Me?

Mar 31, 2010 @ 09:23 pm by

im making a book of chemistry standards for school and im having difficulty drawing a model/explain what a few of them mean. Here are the ones i dont know:

1d.) Students know how to use the periodic table to determine the number of electrons available for bonding

2a.) Students know atoms combined to form molecules by sharing electrons to form covalent or metallic bonds or by exchanging electrons to form ionic bonds.

2b.) Students know chemical bonds between atoms in molecules such as H2,CH4,NH3,H2CCH2,N2 and Cl2 and many large biological molecules are covalent.

2c.)Students know salt crystals, such as NaCl, are repeating patterns of positive and negative ions held together by electrostatic attraction.

3e.) Students know how to calculate the masses of reactants and products in a chemical reaction from the mass of one of the reactants or products and relevant atomic masses.

4a.) Students know the random motion of molecules and their collisions with a surface the observable pressure on that surface.

4b.) Students know the random motion of molecules explains the diffusion of gasses.

4c.) Students know how to apply the gas laws to relations betweenthe pressure, temperature and volume of any mixutre of ideal gases.

5c.) Students know strong acids and bases fully dissociate and weak acids and bases partially dissoctiate.

6b.) Students know how to describe the dissolving process at the molecular level by using the concepts of random molecular motion.

6c.) Students know temperature, pressure and surface area affect the dissolving process

6d.) Students know how to calculate the concentration of a solute in terms of grams per liter, molarity, parts per million and precent composition.

7b.) Students know chemical processes can either release (exothermic) or absorb (endothermic) themal energy.

7c.) Students know energy is released when a meterial condenses or freezes and is absorbed when a material evaporates or melts.

7d.) Students know how to solve problems involving heat flow and temperature changes, using known values or specific heat and latent heat of phase change.

I KNOW ITS A LOT BUT I WOULD APPRECIATE IF YOU HELP ME!
IF THERE ARE ANY SITES WITH EXAMPLES OR HELPS EXPLAIN PLEASE GIVE THEM TO ME!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Open Question: How can you attend a college in England?

Mar 31, 2010 @ 08:31 pm by

I want to attend a college or university in London. I am fascinated with England and want to experience there. I am an American so do I have to go to college there as a college foreign exchange student? Or can I actually enroll there like a normal student. I understand I need a passport and stuff. Please help from someone who had experience or know the correct information thank you :)

Open Question: Information on foreign exchange…?

Mar 31, 2010 @ 06:54 pm by

I’m an American high school student interested in foreign exchange possibilities in Europe. If anyone has had any experiences with certain companies, suggestions on where I could learn more, or a list of respected companies I can look at online that would be great. Thanks

Open Question: Can you please proofread this!!!?

Mar 31, 2010 @ 06:46 pm by

Hi,

I have an assignment due in soon, could you please read it and make any needed adjustments. Thank you!

‘Lines written in early spring’ by Romantic poet William Wordsworth’s muses not only about the splendor of nature, but exposes the dour state of humankind. This is publicized in the given lines “To her fair works did nature link the human soul that through me ran; And much it greaves my heart to think what man has made of man.” The repetition of the ‘er’ vowel sound in the words “And much it greaves my heart ” gives a sharp rhythm. This is consistent with the mood of the writer as he is having a prod, at humankind.

Being a form of pastoral poetry, these texts are underpinned by the cultural assumptions of the Romantic era. During a time when the anthology of nature was looked upon as innocent, pure and the perfect specimen of creation, in contrast with the destructiveness of humans. Their poems were the social commentaries of their time, as poets such as William Wordsworth, Christopher Maslowe and Edmund Spenser protested against the effects of industrialization, technology and the destruction of nature.

This is still relevant in today’s society. Anywhere you find people and technology, you will be able to find how we have destroyed nature. Think of your house, to build on it, land had to be leveled, excavated to bare dirt. Trees needed to be cut down to build the frame. Now think of you car, metals like iron and aluminum needed to mined and processed to make the frame. All the fumes it spews out, contaminating our air for breathing. The hazardous waste oils and fluids we need to exchange in order to keep it running. Indeed we are feeling the effect of living during what the Bible prophecies would be “Critical times hard to deal with” (Genesis 2:3) This presents Wordsworth unhappiness as he explains, “If such be Nature’s holy plan, Have I not reason to lament, what man has made of man?” Students would gain ideological pleasure from this poem, as its ideas can be related to the world and its problems.

In essence, the poems discourse is that the happiness of nature should be paralleled by the happiness of mankind We need to engage not isolate ourselves from nature. With this in mind, I strongly believe the Romantic poem ‘Song: ‘Lines written in early spring” by William Wordsworth, should be included from the Year 12 poetry unit. The reason put forward is its values and beliefs fit hand in hand with the unit’s title “Back to nature”. I profess the poem may not be interesting to the students in the class, but when reading the body of the ideas they certainly, will be immersed by the relevance of “Lines written in early spring” not only had for the Romantic era, but also for us now.

Open Question: Can I call him my boyfriend? Are we going out? Or what? :)?

Mar 31, 2010 @ 06:45 pm by

Ok, we have been going for movies, lunches, teas, walks since the end of Jan. He hasn’t made a move on me physically yet, however, we connect like crazy and have the most amazing conversation. We can sit in cafe, drink tea/coffee and talk for hours without realizing how time passes. We have exchanged family stories, his father said hello to me over the phone once.

I thought I was more into him because well he hasnt made a move on me yet, however recently he invited me as his date to a rather important formal Summer dance at his fathers company. So I think we are getting somewhere :) ?

Oh and I must mention he is painfullly shy and somewhat reserved when it comes to displays of affection. However, he is brilliant otherwise. He is caring, remembers tiny details from ours conversations months ago. He goes rather red when we talk and his pupils are huge usually. Its quite funny actually how endearing his manner is. We went out on Valentine’s Day h/w no one wished each other possibly because we had only known each other for a few weeks then.

He took me out on my birthday and although usually we always split the bill, he paid for the day. I have a feeling he already considers me his girlfriend but can’t say it because he is scared. The physical intimacy should follow, eh? Maybe the dance day :)
I am pretty sure he has no one home because his parents are aware of my existence. Also, I must mention we are both exchange students in a different country.

Are we going out then? Oh and he asked me to the ball through a text, the shy lad :) OMG I don’t know your name, but I loved your answer. You took my lines and made me see it clearly. Yes he is amazing. Thanks xxx

Open Question: Where can I find a pen-pal from a European country?

Mar 31, 2010 @ 04:57 pm by

I need a pen-pal from a European country like France, Greece, or England so where can I find one?
Guy or girl, it doesn’t matter.
Obviously, I want a pen-pal who knows some English. I especially want to meet people from England! I LOVE those accents.
I’m 17 years old. I’m from the U.S. (I won’t reveal anymore info here.) I really want to do this because it sounds fun. It doesn’t matter how we communicate. We can send letters or exchange email addresses or use oovoo/skype.

When I was in 5th grade, my teacher’s daughter taught in England so we wrote letters to her students and they wrote back to us and sent us videos and stuff like that. I want to travel to Europe someday and would love to learn about the culture there.

So is there a website like that or anyone from here?

Please no creepers!!! NO ONE OVER 18!!!
