Open Question: should i go to junior/senior prom? (im a junior)?

Apr 30, 2010 @ 09:00 pm by

A lot of people I would go with have bf’s/gf’s, or they are going to ask someone. im not sure if i should go, because currently i am dateless. homecoming was weird because i didnt really have anyone to dance with and everyone was with their dates. my friend offered to set me up with her foreign exchanged student from germany, and he seems nice because we have hung out a few times, but i am terribly shy and he doesnt talk much :/ i dont want to get all dressed up and pay for a ticket just to have a suckish time, what should i do?

Resolved Question: Are my friends racist?

Apr 30, 2010 @ 08:01 pm by

They keep moaning about how chinese people hang out together, are so loud, and take up all the room on buses. They say they are annoying and irritate them. My friends make faces of disgust when they see them.

They wouldn’t dare say this about a black person or an indian. So why is it acceptable here? It’s really bothering me, but i don’t want to say anything in case they turn on me. I’m just wondering if they realize how offensive they sound.

We’ve just gone to college alot of chinese exchange students attend. There were no chinese people at our previous school. So i guess it may have been a shock for them. Whereas i have grown up in quite a diverse environment. Mum’s white, Dad’s black, Mums best friend is pakistani and, where i lived was close to a university, so alot of the houses were let out to chinese people.

I’m just really angry at my friends, but i’m trying to stay calm. The first few times i ignored them, but they keep acting like this and, its making me frustrated. Is there a way i can calmly mention how stupid/racist they sound?
rachaele : It isn’t a her. They havn’t done anything….yet. It’s all of them they have a problem with :(

Open Question: ANYONE IN AUSTRALIA! Which university would be best for an exchange student?

Apr 30, 2010 @ 07:02 pm by

I’m technically a senior in high school/sophmore in college (long story–took alot of community college classes, have alot of credits, its gonna take me two years to get my bachelors degree when I transfer to the local university in the fall).
I really, really, really would like to do a semester or maybe an academic year in Australia….This idea is still kind of growing in my mind, and Im researching. It seems like a great opportunity to experience something completely different, yet not too culture shocking from where I am now.
Im researching the exchange programs available thru the Uni im going to the fall…and they have several australian universities they’re partnered with. Now as I scroll thru and begin reading about them, I figured I’d ask people who actually live there: which of this list of universities in australia would be best for an exchange student?
–University of South Australia (Adelaide)
–Flinders University ( Adelaide)
–University of Newcastle (New South Wales)
–James Cook University (Townsville)
–Curtin University (Perth)
–University of Murdoch (Perth)
–Northern Territory University (Darwin)

If it helps any…Im a small town kind of girl. Nothing against big cities, and would be willing to live in one, but would prefer a smaller city. Also…Though Ive been raised in a place where the temp never exceeds 60 degrees farenheit…I LOVE TO BE WARM!!!!! COMPLETE DESERT RAT! Which of those cities has the lowest cost of living?

Resolved Question: Can a home schooled student do student exchange at a real school in a different country?

Apr 30, 2010 @ 06:07 pm by

I am currently enrolled at the Distance Education Centre Victoria in Australia. I am in year 10 this year and I was thinking that I would like to do exchange for a term or two at a school in the U.S. at the start of next year. I was just wondering if this is even possible?
Not so much student exchange I meant just a one way thing. Worded it wrong :S .

Open Question: How do I get closer to this guy?

Apr 30, 2010 @ 02:36 pm by

I have a major crush on this a boy in my school and he rides my bus but I can’t tell if he likes me. When he gets on the bus he almost always looks at me, and in the morning before school starts I caught him staring at me, but I just don’t think he likes me. I’ve talked to him a couple times and he is so nice and funny. I want to know how to get closer to him. In class he is in my group but I don’t really talk to him that much b/c im to shy. He is quiet too. My other friends that are in my group have no idea that I like him. I don’t know what to do. He’s an exchange student and he will be leaving after school is over so I only have a couple weeks left to make my move. Please don’t tell me to “just talk to him” I’ve done that and I don’t really know what to say besides the questions he’s been asked a 100 times before like “So do you like it here?” and stuff. Help me please? Thank you.
I don’t want to make it obvious that I like him. I want to know for sure that he likes me before I show him how much I like him. I’ve liked him for 9 months. I’ve had multiple people tell me that I should date him b/c we would make a cute couple.

Open Question: does she have feelings for me and what do i say?!?

Apr 30, 2010 @ 02:27 pm by

Ive been texting this one girl almost non stop since we started talking two weeks ago. she is an exchange student and she is a little shy. We have also hung out twice in that time and she seems to have a really fun time. She says things like “i wish i had met you sooner” and “I would die of boredom without you.” i dont know what to say to her because i dont want to be wrong in thinking she likes me and totally ruin the fun times we already have but i am really starting to have feelings for her.
