Sep 05, 2010 @ 06:27 pm by

There’s this cute Spanish exchange student who lives down the hall from me, I really want to talk to her and it would be great because I am learning Spanish right now and I’m actually getting pretty good at it.

Simple question really, what’s the best way to approach?

Open Question: So…i need story help….?

Sep 05, 2010 @ 11:29 am by

I know a writer is doomed without a plot, but i just have writer’s block and can’t think of anything, so can you guys help?

1. The main character is the head girl of an all girls school where super powered juvenile delinquents run a muck terrorizing the town of Argyle, Texas.
-First Summary: Ashley Mount Institution for Girls is a fairly typical all-girls reform school. That is, if every reform school taught you how to use your super powers and superior fighting skills in PE, how to mix iron burning acid in science, and a girl can get extra credit in computer class for hacking into the metropolis’ art museum’s security.
It was doing great to, until the Ring of Ashton started on a killing spree. That’s why Ruby, Chelsea, and Millie get Millie’s con-artist of a cousin caught and sent to Ashley Mount for help. Ashley Mount was doing great at the school too, until a fellow student is murdered and she’s blamed for doing it. It was hard enough being a teenage girl con-artist-turned-juvenile delinquent super hero teenage girl, but being a juvenile delinquent super powered girl trying to prove their innocence is even harder.
Lolly, Millie’s cousin, has five days to prove her innocence, and riddle-by-riddle she’s unraveling the mystery behind her classmate’s death. Will she do it in time, and be able to find a new life for her and her younger sisters along the way?

-Second Summary: After staking out, trying to, and succeeding to prove her innocence of committing the murder of Katharine Chaney, all Lolly wants is a peaceful semester of being head girl of Ashley Mount Institute for Girls a school for super powered juvenile delinquent girls. But that’s easier said than done when you’re a SHIA (Super Hero Intelligence Agency) legacy.
Despite her wishes, once Headmistress Fraitz announces that Ashley Mount will be playing host for an exchange with a school just like Ashley Mount, but there’s just one minor difference…it’s a school for boys; Lolly is deemed with the action of controlling the disaster that’s about to strike.
But Lolly’s world is turned upside down, and thrust into chaos when her former co-conspirator, Alex Smitten, shoes up with the exchange. Now, not only does she have to keep her school from falling into this mess, but she has to refrain from doing the same. Will she come out alive?

2. The main characters are the children of the Trio of Power (Jupiter, Dis Pater, and Neptune) the two boys (children of Dis Pater and Neptune) attend an all boys school for the children of the Roman Olympian gods in Fair Banks, Alaska. The two girls (children of Jupiter and Dis Pater) attend an all girls school for the children of the Roman Olympian gods in Olympia, Washington.
-First Summary: Alpha Mayhew is a normal thirteen year old enjoying her summer break, but all that changed when she was attacked by a Harpy. Jess Wood, a satyr, takes her to the Achilla Academy for Demigod Young Women.
When Alpha is claimed as the daughter of Jupiter she is sent on a quest with her friends to find the stolen bows of the Roman sun god Helios and the Roman moon goddess Diana. She faces a different task from each god. When she returns to the bows she faces the one man who abandoned her, her father. Will she ever make amends with the man who created her?

-Second Summary: Best friends Alec Caspian and Lex. D Darkwood are normal fifteen year olds enjoying their summer break, but all that changes when they’re attack by a Fury. Jess Wood, a satyr, and Adelphos Smitten, their best friend, take them to Achilles Institute for Demigod Warriors of Olympus.
It’s hard enough trying to survive at Achilles, but when claimed Alec and Lex are in some deep trouble. They are sent off to find Alpha Mayhew, a female demigod , from the Lotus eaters and recover Lady Juno’s lotus staff. Along the way though, they have to complete a task for each god. It’s hard enough for Lex and Alec to be traveling with two girls, but when forced to have their first kiss it becomes even harder. Maybe even harder then facing the men who abandoned them, their fathers.

So can you guys help me? Please?
I need what should happen after the second one for each.

Open Question: What should I give to a past foreign exchange friend?

Sep 04, 2010 @ 10:37 pm by

Just this year my family and I hosted a Japanese exchange student. Now we’re best friends! Her family sent a big box full of sweets, junk food, dish towels for my mom, and some little toys.

Now we want to send something, but we don’t know what to send. We want “classic” american things. We just don’t know what that would entail. What are some american things they don’t have in Japan that they would most likely like??

Help!

Open Question: Is a Trusteeship Scholarship at Boston University possible for me?

Sep 04, 2010 @ 05:32 pm by

Hey,
I’m an international student willing to study abroad in an affordable and good university.
I saw the Boston Trusteeship Scholarship and wanted to know if I had a chance if I apply.
I was ranked 4 of 28 in my 10th grade, 6 of 22 in my 11th grade (we were all good) and 3 of 20 in my 12th grade.
My average marks of the last three years of school are: 82/100 (if converted: 3.3/4 GPA)
I participated in the Model United Nations and formed a Student Company called ‘Comfi’ that sells seat-cushions to school students. I learned piano and did some community service. Also, i have my own blog and went through a student-exchange program to Germany in Grade 11.

should I bother applying and do i have a chance?
Thanks.

If not, which colleges do you nominate? I plan on pursuing my studies in Finance or Pre-Medical Studies.
Also, I got 1790 on my SAT1.

Open Question: I’m an exchange student for 1 year, should i have my parents to come and visit me?

Sep 04, 2010 @ 05:57 am by

I’m in England for 1 year as an exchange student. I’m 16 years old. I’m in a bit of a dilemma, because I dont know whether or not I want to have my parents come and visit me.. If they should come, I would have them come in Dec/Jan/Feb. In that case, I think Christmas will be easier for me, since I wouldnt miss them knowing I would see them soon. And at that time, I will probably be having friends and a routine, so when I said goodbye, It wouldn’t be so hard, since I would be starting in school again soon..
Do you have any advice? Or heard about some who did it?
Thanks in advance!!

Open Question: Can someone take a look at my Common App essay? How can I improve it?

Sep 04, 2010 @ 02:00 am by

I am planning on only sending this to a New Jersey college or two. Probably TCNJ and Saint Peter’s.
I don’t think my second paragraph is that great though.

the topic is:
1)A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
– –

Diversity, the very core of the United States of America, is an important aspect of life. Diversity is respecting and understanding that each individual is unique, and that everyone has their own individual differences. Everyone should strive to be a distinct and unique person, not a doppelganger or a copycat. The United States is a country that thrives upon its ever increasing cultural make up. The people have differences in ethnicity, religion, race, socioeconomic classes, gender, sexual orientation, and/or physical ability. Everyone has their own beliefs and traditions. When different cultures clash, rites and traditions of each group are perceived as barbaric and is cause for wars. If we are not aware of these differences, prejudice grows. I feel that by being diverse ourselves, we can get along better with each other. We should all embrace our heritage and not just shrug it off as ancient. By embracing one’s own culture, one becomes understanding of other cultures and as a result, less prejudice, hate, and cultural clashes occur. Diversity is important everywhere, especially in school. It allows students to have a greater respect for those who have different beliefs or points of views than themselves. School is where many children first meet at an age where they don’t really care about their differences. As children grow, they begin to notice and understand different cultures and being friends with different heritages encourages the exchange of ideas, which overall enriches the student body as a whole. Furthermore, this opens minds to new experiences, which greatly helps students with college in the future.
The internet, one of the greatest inventions of man, has greatly helped me understand and learn about different people and cultures. Each and every time I turn on my computer and enter the cyber world, I learn more and more about people. Through the internet, I have access to the vast knowledge people around the world and throughout history have gained. I have the opportunity to interact with people around the world with websites such as Yahoo Answers, Facebook, MySpace, and Formspring. Through those websites, I have gained an understanding of how people react when they cannot be judged in person. With the use of the internet, I am able to be myself without judgment and see others for who they really are. Thanks to the internet, I have been able to interact with a more diverse community, with people who have different views and beliefs, and learn about them while sharing my own views.

There is a new foreign exchange student and he is really cute and funny..we have a class together…we always sit at the same table in that class, and whenever he walks in in the morning I hit him jokingly and he smiles at me, or sometime Ill see him in the hallway and he’ll like do that eye thing with me, or hit me and smile.
he makes fun of me during gym…but then smiles at me..sometmes he flirts with other girls but I flirt with other guys too. One day he was on facebook chat and I said hey! and he said my name then a wink face..and after that he would send smiles with his answers.
but sometimes I say something and he just looks at me and smiles doesnt really say anything..
but today was at my locker and he did come up and talk to me..
