Open Question: How to become a citizen of the United States?

Feb 06, 2012 @ 05:44 pm by

My name is Fernando. I am currently 21 years old and would like to become a citizen of the United States, I have never been to the US before I know English because my dad was an exchange student and I have a certain level of fluency because i speak to my friends online by ps3 gaming, well getting back to the topic. I will soon start working and heard that i need to be working for about 2 years in my country, Mexico, to get a visa, though i would like to apply for a students visa since that would higher my chances on getting a job in the US ,I think , and later on apply for a green card and or citizenship.
To be honest i don`t like the country that I`m living in right now and know i could do a lot better , also it is it has been my long time dream to be a US citizen and i don`t plan on giving up my dreams, i know what this is going to be a hard journey but I`m willing to get through every obstacle in order to reach my goal, I remember my dad use to say to me when I was little “Reach for the skies cause the skies are the limits, so what does that mean, that there are no limits”, Thanks for taking the time to read this and if the are any questions regarding this information or any details that I forgot add i`ll gladly reply back.

Open Question: I want to go to University in Germany!?

Feb 06, 2012 @ 02:58 pm by

HI I am currently an exchange student in germany and find it pretty awesome here. I am a canadian and will finish my High school when i return to canada (I only have one year left) I have had and next year will also be taking University level courses (highest in Canada).

So here’s the problem. I want to keep all my options open for university and would like to apply to universities in Germany as well as Canada. However I will not have the Abitur level certification (which is also on par with International Baccalaureate which I also don’t have). I just want some advice and opinions on if my exchange year in germany will help me and maybe I can get into a Uni in Germany. Thanks !

I also heard uni in Germany is reasonable inexpensive even for foreigners.

I believe I have taken on a new challenge by enrolling at Westminster International University in Tashkent. It is my opinion that through this challenge I will gain new skills, skills that I will be able to put into practice in my private and my professional life. In order to be successful in life I will need to know what skills I have, what I am good at and what I need to focus on during this course. I intend to use all my skills from previous educational experiences in addition to this new one in the different field of law in which I wish to pursue a future career.

I am currently a junior law student at the Westminster University. In my Foundation studies course, I have taken classes in business, marketing, communications and public relations and received distinction in all of them. Eager to leverage my classroom learning into real world experience, I have also worked as a manager , later as a general manager for a small retail business. Later I was a participant in the Work and Travel exchange program, where I have worked in the USA for four months as a sales assistant, in “Secrets of Heaven Ltd”. My responsibilities at “Secrets of Heaven” included all the features of Costumer service skills, from greeting customers and finding out their needs as well as recommending, describing and demonstrating use of the product, receiving and processing payments and providing change and receipts.

Now, one of my main ambitions for the future is to get a scholarship to study for a Master’s degree in International law in the United Kingdom or Germany. Simply learning theory is not sufficient if I wish to enter my preferred University to obtain my degree. So, in order to get an excellent academic background as well as real-life experience, I wish to take an internship. Why in the British Council? I believe that a British Council internship will be by far the best choice as it will not only provide great experience but will also allow me to improve my language and communication skills. I am also optimistic that I will gain many other important career skills upon completion of this internship in its unique bicultural atmosphere.

*Actually the question was: What do you want to achieve as a professional? What have you already done to achieve this? How do you think internship in the British Council will help you achieve your ambition?
