Open Question: A tense Engish Tense question. :-)?

Is a teacher right to use simple present when starting a situation game:

“Imagine that you take part in an English student exchange programme and so, you come to my office to ask around the possibilities and now we will take it from this point. (then the situation game begins with the student)”

or should it go like:

“Imagine that you are taking part in an English student exchange programme and so, you are coming to my office to ask around the possibilities… and now we’ll take it from thist point. (then the situation game begins)”
