Student Exchange Programs

*yes I re-posted this. I’m afraid I might not get any answers in the studying abroad category.

First of all, let me say that COLLEGE APPLICATIONS ARE NOT MY ONLY REASON FOR WANTING TO GO.

I’ve always wanted to be a foreign exchange student when I was too young to know about college. I wanted to do the full academic year at first, but my parents will only let me do the summer exchange, so I’m going to do that. I also don’t think it would hurt to add to my resume.

I am really leaning toward the AFS Summer Community Service Program. Although I would not be going to school, I would be volunteering in local communities in another country. Plus I’ve always wanted to make a difference in the world

Would this look good on a college application, or would they just see this as a tourist trip?
