Open Question: Does it sound like my teacher is being unfair?
I am in French IV Honors. There are 5 of us (we’re combined with French III because there’s only one French teacher and she would have like 8/9 classes, but there’s only 7 pds). At the beginning of the school year, my teacher said she wasn’t going to make the Fr IV and V classes take a final exam. We weren’t sure if she was actually going to keep that promise b/c she always changes her mind about everything and claims to not have said whatever it was she promised. But there was 2 weeks of school left and she was still saying no exam! Great! But yesterday, she had us making up practice exams for Fr I & II (her job!). So we were doing it how she had said to do it. Then she started getting mad b/c we weren’t doing it right. She was telling us no! you should be doing it this other way! (the way she had specifically said to NOT do it btw) Then the German foreign exchange student was trying to explain to her what we were doing, so she starts yelling at him. Hang on…
Then she starts yelling at him for all this crap from the past couple weeks (stuff which she had previously admitted to being miscommunication on both their parts) and she’s blaming it all on him. So then he starts being disrespectful. (nothing big-he just wouldn’t lift his head up off the desk when she said to.) So then she says “just for that EVERYBODY has to take the exam!” The other 4 of us didn’t do anything wrong!!! The exam is 20% of either the semester or year grade (not sure), so we can’t just not show up b/c it’ll screw up our GPAs. What makes it worse is that HE is a senior and he has gotten straight A’s this year in French, which means he’s exempt from the exam!!! And knowing this, my teacher is STILL making the rest of us take the exam! And on top of that, she suddenly decided to give us NEW work to do, instead of doing an exam review, which she’s doing for every other class! Does that sound completely unfair to you?
