Open Question: Does this make sense in French?

Scenario: You are trying to convince your parents to let you host a French exchange student.

Opposition from the parent:

Maman: “Je n’aime pas l’idée d’avoir un étranger à la maison…

Me: Finalement, tu t’y habitueras. Alors, que peut-il bien se passer? Ils sont jeune, comme moi! Il ne sont pas des vieux hommes!

I don’t like the idea of having a stranger in the house….

Eventually, you’ll get used to it. What could possibly happen? They’re young like me! They’re not old men!
Also, is there a more simple way of saying parts of this…? Like, instead of ‘il ne sont pas’
