Open Question: Exchange student college dorm problems?

Right now, I’m a sophomore in college, both studying and living in the Philippines. I don’t dorm, but there’s this opportunity at our university for an exchange program abroad (I preferably want to go to Japan) for around 4-5 months. The last time I went on an “exchange program” was when I was with my fellow classmates on a business tour to China for around one and a half months, and we sorta dormed.

I’m just a bit scared though, because I know the uneasiness when it comes to living away from home with people who aren’t my family (what more if it’s not fellow Filipinos). I remembered when I stayed in a CHina how excited I was the first few days, and then halfway of the one and a half months, I couldn’t take it anymore (luckily, I survived and coped). I’m just afraid the same thing might happen, or worse would happen, if I go to Japan, because it’s now 4-5 months long.

Is there really any way to fight this loneliness??
