Student Exchange Programs

-This could just as easily go in the friend section because although I don’t know what he’s thinking I’m pretty sure he’s not my type.- I’m in college and I have a class with this foreign exchange student. He usually sits in the front and when I come into class, we often catch eyes & I usually smile at him. On a quiz day he showed up late & sat in the open desk right next to me. We ended up joking about how slow I am at passing out papers and after the quiz I caught him looking at me several times(one time for several seconds), not even caring that I saw him. After this happened it seems like he has wanted to talk to me so bad but he is either scared, wants me to speak first, or I’m just imagining things. It seems like he waits for me to gather my stuff and he will keep watch of me while I do so but when I get closer to him he just continues to look at me as I walk out & most of the time he will leave shortly after. I had kind of just blew off his behavior until it was test day and we finished around the same time but he turned his in first. He saw that I was finished too and literally waited with his stuff for me to hand my exam to the professor and then when I looked towards him he was just standing there looking at me, so once again I walked right past him and once again he left right after me. I am so sick of this! It seriously happens almost every time we have class. I talked to one of my friends about it and she thinks I should talk to him first next time. I am considering it but I really don’t get what’s he’s doing, we just seem way too old for this type of stuff. What is up with him?

Background info: He’s not shy, he is constantly speaking up in class and with others. He is definitely on the attractive side but still not my type.
