Student Exchange Programs

A friend of mine asked me for some advice. She came to Britain as an international exchange student from China and got a contract with Vodafone, pay monthly, for twelve months, december 2005 til december 2006. Since she returned to China about four months ago she has recieved letters from the company. It is hard to get the exact details from her owing to language difficulties, but she says they say she has missed payment and owes £290, with an additional £80 for legal costs (whatever that means). She just wants to know how to resolve the problem.
She says the contract began on 6th december 2005 and they charged her for an extra month, between dec 6. 2006 and jan. 6. 2007
