Student Exchange Programs

I’m from South Africa, and attended a Summer Camp as a counselor in 2009. The International counselors had to go to homeland security for a social security card. I done that, and I never thought I would go abroad again, but this time I’ll be working at the carnivals, and the US consulate wouldn’t grant me permission if I don’t have SSN. I only have SEVIS ID. (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System). Is there any way I can obtain my number VIA my SEVIS ID?
