Student Exchange Programs

I am trying to get my family to agree to hosting a foreign exchange student, but we also have been planning a big trip for a while. We want someone from Brazil, and it just so happens that this trip is actually to Brazil… We also want to go for 2 weeks, so we would be missing school. Does anyone know the policy on trips out of country/missing school for a foreign exchange students? Also, what happens when you get int fights with the exchange student, with myself being the lone kid left at home? Thank you so much!
