Open Question: Will me and my best friend stay best friends forever?

Ok so I’m 17 and a junior guy in high school, and this year I randomly became best friends with a German exchanged student. We’re really really close and I’ve never had a best friend that I’ve been this close to before. But there is that reality that he isn’t going to be here forever. But me and him made a pact to stay best friends no matter what once he moves back. And he actually got a girlfriend from here that I’m friends with, and she’s visiting him his summer and I’m visiting him over next winter break. We’re basically planning on seeing each other every six months. And he said no matter why we won’t lose each other. That would be horrible too, because I’ve literally never trusted someone as much as him and he helps with me everything. Like my girlfriend, family problems, etc. so anyways we both made a pact. And we’re going to visit each other in college and once I graduate I plan on moving back to Europe (not just for him, but because I want to see the world again) and we could probably see each other again. And he says we’re going to Skype everyday when he goes back to Germany, and with his girlfriend. I’m just wondering, do you guys think this is possible? At least staying in contact and visiting each other sometimes? And that he won’t just find a new best friend back in Germany? He’s like a brother to me. Thanks
