Resolved Question: will my parents give me and my siblings less attention when we get an exchange student?

Feb 05, 2012 @ 07:23 pm by

So my family is getting an exchange student next school year. At first when we talked about it I loved the idea and now I’m nervous. What if my parents don’t give any of their own kids attention. I have this feeling because they want to go on this big vacation during the spring break next year with the exchange student and I asked why we were and they said they wanted to give her a great experience. So if they are willing to go on a big vacation just because she is here what else will they do for her. By the way I cant tell my parents I don’t want an exchange student because we already have one picked out and we know shes coming and when she is coming.
Im not trying to sound selfish at all. I just don’t want to ruin my dad and I relationship by having him love someone that he will only get to see for a year and then not love me. And also I would never be mean to her trust me. I really just don’t want my dad to stop loving me.

Open Question: Should I stop talking to my friend?

Feb 05, 2012 @ 06:11 pm by

I’ve been friends with this girl since the beginning of the school year. She’s an exchange student from switerland so i thought it would be cool to talk and make friends with her. The more i talked to her the more i liked her. She liked a guy for a while so i said nothing but things didnt work out between them so she stopped talking to him. For a while i thought maybe i should just be friends with her since i myself is kinda of a new student ( Been at the school the year before but i came half way through the year) and didnt have alot of friends. We become close telling each other personal stuff and we trust each other. She considers me her best friend ( i guess in america) so we just cool with each other. Then she started dating this guy that i know.

When they first started dating i told her i use to get jealous when she would talk to guys and she told me she felt the same way when i talk to girls. I wasnt to happy that they were going out but its her life and I’m happy for her but every time i saw them cuddling, holding hands, kissing or whatever i would just get pissed off but i didnt want to tell her that because i didnt want her to feel uncomfortable. As hard as i tired to show that i was fine around them she would know when im not ok so she would always ask whats wrong and i would tell her nothing. She says now that she really loves him and he feels the same regardless of how I feel about her I am happy that their together because i cant give her the stuff that her bf can, i wouldnt be able to take her to cool places ( mainly because im broke and i have no car lol) and plus i think im not ready to have a girlfriend because i dont have a job, I dont have the things in life that makes me happy ( I want somethings in life that makes me happy like friends or sports something. I dont want to have a girlfriend to make me happy i want to make me happy because of me) and the mistakes that a boyfriend would make in a relationship i dont want to make with her I want to have some more experience.

But when ever she says hang out with her and her bf and his friends i feel like im there because of her not because the bf wants me there. They are still going out after 3 or 4 mouths and i dont want to hang out with them together anymore because i feel that the bf doesnt want me there and i still have feelings for her so i get upset when i see them kissing or whatever. But what really bothers me is every since they went out we’ve been hanging out less and texting less. I told myself when i first met her that i wont be dependent on her with hanging out or the normal stuff friends do. I told her how i felt and she said sorry and we’ll do more stuff together but now i feel like she’s only going to do it because i told her how i felt. I dont want to look needed to her but at the same time i want things to be how they use to be. Should i stop talking to her until I can find some way to get over her and is it normal to have these feelings.

Open Question: Should I go to India or to Finland?

Feb 05, 2012 @ 04:58 pm by

Please, give me your best advice on this. The thing is that I had applied to go as an exchange student to Finland for one year sponsored by Rotary International. I was accepted, however, they changed my original destination to India! It is the opposite to what I had asked, and yet I feel not excited at all. Though, I really know nothing about that country, and obviously, have never travelled there, so perhaps my conception about it could be certainly biased. My parents have said they will support me no matter what my decision is, but the issue is that if I tell them I want to go to India, they will not send me to Finland until the middle of the university. In the other hand, if I don’t go to India, I will be able to go to Finland from the start. Do you think it is worth it to sacrifice half my University in Finland in favour of one year in India? Otherwise, should I stay here and wait? By the way, I’m from mexico, and I love Finland because of it’s high quality education, cold weather, environmentalism, greenery, lakes, cold, snow, organisation, welfare system, prosperity, cold, blondes, slimy people, places, history, and off course COLD weather

Open Question: Should I go to India?

Feb 05, 2012 @ 04:49 pm by

I have asked many people in my country about whether I should go to India or not, and no one has been able to give me a clear answer. Not even those who have travelled there. I am from mexico, and was offered an opportunity to go one year as an exchange student to India, but I feel no connection with the country. There’s no better people to ask about this than Indians themselves. so, please, tell me why I should go, other wise, why I shouldn’t, depending on your opinion. thanks.

Hello, i am a foreign exchange student from Germany. About a month ago i moved to the U.S and lived with a nice American family. I am only 17 years old so i am a junior in highschool. In highschool i made a couple friends both girls and boys. The problem is a lot of people are calling me a Nazi and names and making funny of me in different ways. I dont understand, i dont know most of the people making fun of me anyways.. Does this usually happen in american schools? is it common?

Thanks, and how do i avoid these kind of problems?
